Why I Lift Weights and other random thoughts... Two days ago I was trying to open up a jar and I was having trouble getting the lid to budge. Having grown up with two brothers and a neighborhood of boys, I always found myself trying to be as strong
and as fast as they were. This determination, perseverance, and goal kicked in once again and I finally got the jar open. My very next thought was, "This is one of the reasons that I weight train and 'choose' to stay in shape." You see, I want to be able to stay strong and continue to walk upstairs and downstairs pain free; to lift 25-30 lbs of dog food into the grocery cart, into the car, and into the house; to maintain good posture, to combat the effects of osteoarthritis and scoliosis; to keep anxiety, stress, and depression in check....in other words to enhance to quality of my life. I know many of you feel the same way. Thank you to my dad, my mom, my brothers: DALE and CRAIG, my many aunts, uncles, and cousins for instilling and modeling "strength" to me and to my daughters. A special shout out to Grandma Lizzie....I love you and miss you. Looking forward to 2016.
I am a native Floridian who moved to Keene, NH in 1999. I truly enjoy the four seasons of New England because I get to take advantage of different outdoor activities. I live a life style that includes working out, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with my adult daughters. Through yoga practice, strength training, and cycling I am now pain free from osteoarthritis and scoliosis. I am a Baby Boomer...or as I like to say Baby Bloomer! Welcome to my blog.
